Zella (Currently Inactive)

Zella or Zalla (Arabic: زلة‎ az-Zallah) is an oasis in the northeastern Fezzan region of southwest Libya. The Sahara desert town is approximately half way between Marada and Hun in the Jufra District.  Zella is the site of an ancient Berber castle. There are a number of smaller oases in the vicinity, such as Trezah, Meduin and Tagreft. Zella is a gateway to Alharuj Al Asswad.

Zella Camp started life in 1986 with four wooden buildings imported from Austria.  Over time the Camp has grown considerably and now houses 77 VAOS personnel.
